Tested before it goes live.

I lead the work and make the changes.

I join your team as a part-time head of infrastructure. I work out what needs attention, agree priorities with you and make the changes alongside your engineers.

I work with the tools you already use.

Cloud cost optimisation

I look at what you’re paying for, find unused or oversized resources, and change the setup to bring the bill down.

Infrastructure automation

I write code to create and update your cloud resources, so your team can review changes and repeat the same setup. I also plan and carry out cloud migrations.

Release engineering

I fix slow or unreliable build and deployment pipelines, automate manual steps and help your team release small changes safely.

I’ve worked as an infrastructure lead, a release engineer and a startup co-founder.

Infrastructure lead · Series A construction software

1,000+ resources managed in code.

I replaced manual cloud changes with code the team could review, migrated deployment pipelines and added monitoring across every production region.

  • Releases went from roughly weekly to several times a week
  • Monitoring uncovered 18+ performance problems

I look at your cloud bill, how infrastructure is managed and how code gets to production.

We agree what I’ll review, how long it will take and what you’ll receive before work starts.

You’ll know what I found, what I recommend changing and why. Your team can make the changes, or I can help carry them out.

After the audit

A focused fix

We agree on a specific set of changes. I make them in your codebase, using your team’s usual review process.

A part-time lead

I plan infrastructure changes with your engineers, then write and review the code.

Common questions

What is a fractional head of infrastructure?

A fractional head of infrastructure is a part-time infrastructure lead. I work with your engineers to set priorities, plan changes and write and review code. An ongoing engagement is typically 1–2 days a week, billed monthly.

What does an infrastructure audit cover?

I review your cloud bill, how you manage infrastructure and how you release code to production. You receive findings and recommended changes. We agree the scope, timing and deliverables before work starts. The typical fee is A$3,000–5,000.

Can you implement the changes?

Yes. Your team can use the audit findings, or I can make the changes with your engineers. A focused fix takes 2–4 weeks with an agreed scope. For ongoing work, I can join as a part-time lead.

Do we need to change our tools?

I work with the tools you already use. Infrastructure automation can include infrastructure as code: code that creates and updates cloud resources. Release engineering can include continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD): automated checks and steps that move code towards production.

Tell me what’s happening with your infrastructure and what you’d like to change. A few sentences are enough.
